Wolon Company Grandly Launches MMC Connector: Ultra-small High-density Connector Leads The New Trend Of Data Center
Apr 24, 2025
Against the background that data centers and communication networks have higher requirements for bandwidth, density and space utilization, Wuhan Wolong Cloud Network Communication Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Wolon Company") announced the launch of its latest developed MMC (Mini Multi-fiber Connector) connector. As an ultra-small high-density connector, MMC is designed to meet the needs of future network architecture for high performance, high reliability and high integration, and is particularly suitable for AI, big data, 5G and hyperscale data centers.
1.What is an MMC connector?
The MMC connector is an ultra-small multi-fiber fiber connector using a new TMT (Tiny MT) ferrule, combining the alignment structure of MT and MT-16, supporting 16-core and 24-core configurations, suitable for single-mode and multi-mode optical fibers, with an outer diameter of up to 2.5 mm.
2.The core advantages of Wolon MMC connectors
The MMC connectors launched by Wolon use a number of advanced technologies and have the following significant advantages:

Ultra-small TMT sleeve design:
The MMC connector uses the TMT (Tiny MT) sleeve format developed by Conec of the United States, with a size of 1.95mm x 4.1mm, which is about one-third of the traditional MT sleeve. This compact design allows each MMC connector to accommodate 16 or 24 fibers, providing three times higher port density than traditional MPO/MTP connectors, greatly saving rack space.
High-performance optical characteristics
MMC connectors support APC (Angled Physical Contact) polishing, with excellent return loss and insertion loss performance, the maximum insertion loss can be as low as 0.35dB, and the maximum return loss can reach -55dB, meeting the requirements of IEC Class B standards, ensuring signal integrity in high-speed networks.

Simplified polarity management
MMC connectors use an asymmetric sleeve design, and the keying mechanism ensures that the connector always maintains the correct polarity direction during installation, avoiding the complexity of traditional MPO/MTP connectors in polarity management and reducing the risk of installation errors.
Direct-insert push-pull boot design
MMC connectors are equipped with DirectConec™ push-pull boots, which are tool-free installation, easy to operate, and suitable for rapid deployment in high-density environments. This design not only improves installation efficiency, but also reduces the demand for operating space, adapting to the dual pressure of space and time in data centers.

Compatible with existing infrastructure
MMC connectors adopt a 250µm fiber hole pitch design that is compatible with traditional MT and MPO/MTP connectors, supporting 250µm, 200µm and 165µm optical fibers, and can be seamlessly connected to existing optical fiber infrastructure, reducing the cost and complexity of network upgrades.
The MMC connector launched by Wolon has become an important solution to meet the needs of future network architectures with its ultra-small high-density design, high-performance optical characteristics, simplified polarity management and compatibility with existing infrastructure. As data centers and communication networks put forward higher requirements for bandwidth, density and space utilization, MMC connectors will bring new changes to the industry and help build a more efficient and reliable network infrastructure.
