12 Core Fiber Optic Cable
12-core fiber optic cable is a communication cable with 12 optical fibers (silica and quartz glass composition) built in. It has various types of structures and two transmission modes, and is a widely used communication cable. In the structure of 12-core fiber optic cable is mainly divided into outdoor and indoor two types of structure. Outdoor cores are mainly center bundle tube type and laminated stranded two types, generally more commonly used is laminated stranded type, because the laminated stranded type to accommodate a larger number of cores, and the protection performance is better than the center bundle tube type. (Center bundle tube type is located in the center of the fiber optic cable, the use of grease filling, double steel wire reinforced structure; laminated type is a form of fiber around the center of the reinforcement structure.) Indoor type is mainly in the bundle structure (model is GJFJV)
Description
Description
Features
Fibers, 250μm, are positioned in a loose tube made of a high modulus plastic.
Tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound.
Tube is wrapped with a layer of corrugated steel tape longitudinally. Between the corrugated
Steel tapeand the loose tube water-blocking material is applied to keep the cable compact and watertight.
Two parallel steel wires are placed at the two sides of the steel tape.
The cable is completed with PE sheath.
Advantages
· Good mechanical and temperature performance
· High strength loose tube that is hydrolysis resistant
· Special tube filling compound ensure a critical protection of fiber
· Crush resistance and flexibility
· Two parallel steel wires ensure tensile strength
· Small diameter, light weight and friendly installation

What are the different meanings of different fiber cores?
When choosing optical fiber, the first step is to determine single mode or multimode, and the second step is to determine the number of fiber cores you need to use. The number of cores refers to the number of glass fibers contained in each fiber, and there are many different types of fiber cores, including 1, 2, 6, and 8 cores.
According to the conventional IBDN integrated cabling scheme, 12 cores are generally recommended for communication rooms in each building, and 24 cores are used between buildings. First, we clearly know the number of wiring points on that layer, figure out the number of switches, and whether the connection between switches is stacked or not.
There are specific operations as follows.
1, if stacked, the core switch for dual hot standby redundancy, 6 cores is enough (2 cores each with 2 cores, 2 cores redundancy).
2, if not stacked, a switch to 4 cores, how many switches multiplied by 4 plus 4 cores of redundancy, it is possible.
3, empirical practice: each floor wiring room (horizontal wiring closet), set up a fiber. Generally six-core: two-core use, two-core backup, two-core redundancy; also use eight-core fiber.
At present, the use of 1 core fiber is not particularly widespread scenarios, in FTTX, Ethernet, digital video and other fields are still used. 1 core fiber in EPON can generally be divided into a maximum of 64 optical ports, GPON is required according to the use of optical modules.
2 core fiber compared to 1 core fiber, the application area is more extensive, also in FTTX has excellent performance, in the industrial network field, 2 core fiber use is more common.
Transmission 6 core fiber optic cable is mainly in single mode and multimode two specifications. Single-mode (inner diameter 9μm outer diameter is 125μm) multimode (there are two, respectively, inner diameter 62.5μm outer diameter 125μm and inner diameter 50μm outer diameter 125μm). 6 core fiber optic cable is suitable for telecommunications long-distance transmission network, fiber optic data transmission, data communication network, etc..
8-core optical fiber has a low loss and low dispersion structure compact and good overall mechanical properties. In the structure of 8-core fiber optic cable is mainly divided into outdoor and indoor two types of structure. Outdoor type mainly has a central bundle tube type and laminated type two types, generally more commonly used is the laminated type, indoor type is mainly bundle type structure.
The types and technical characteristics of 12-core fiber are similar to 8-core fiber, and the specific application scenarios are basically the same. They will be compared between the two, according to the current trend, 12-core optical fiber is more popular, the following differences between them, can help you choose in the segment.
Comparison of 8-core and 12-core fiber
the advantages of each
8-core fiber.
1, to ensure that the eight-core fiber transceiver system to achieve 100% fiber utilization, 12-core fiber to 8-core fiber conversion equipment does not add additional cost and insertion loss.
2, branch patch cords can be easily routed to the ports of all common line cards of the switch.
3, only MTP patch cords without positioning pins are required for any connection in the link.
4, is the most flexible solution for 40G, 100G and 400G data transmission networks.
12 core fiber.
1, greater density of fiber use per connector than 8 cores of fiber.
2, compatible with the existing 12-core fiber MTP deployment and installation of large-scale cores.
the comparison of the two
In general, compared to 8 core fiber connection technology, 12 core fiber connection technology does have an advantage in terms of connector fiber usage density, therefore, when using 12 core fiber connection technology, you can install a large number of fibers faster.
However, because of the higher number of 40G and 100G line deployments where eight fiber transceivers are used, the advantage of keeping the number of fibers in the MTP backbone connection technology consistent with the number of transceiver fibers is going to trump the density advantage of the 12-cell fiber connection technology.
