Introduction

 

PLC splitter is based on a quartz substrate integrated waveguide optical power distribution device, has the advantages of small volume, the working wavelength range, high reliability, good light uniformity etc characteristic, is especially suitable for passive optical network ( EPON, BPON, GPON etc ) connected local and terminal equipment and realize the optical signal devide.

What kinds of optical splitters are there?

Splitters can be divided into box splitters, tray splitters, rack splitters, wall splitters, etc. depending on the application. Box splitter is generally used in fiber optic distribution boxes, etc.; tray splitter is generally used in ODF fiber optic distribution frames and cable transfer boxes in server rooms; rack splitter is installed in a standard rack; wall splitter can be installed on the wall.

 

Splitter according to the different production process can be divided into fused cone splitter and planar waveguide type PLC splitter two types, including planar waveguide splitter PLC is widely used in FTTx and PON. The fused cone splitter is made by fusing two or more fibers side-by-side; the planar waveguide splitter PLC is a micro-optical component type product that uses photolithography to form an optical waveguide on a dielectric or semiconductor substrate to achieve the branch distribution function. These two types of splitters are similar to the principle of splitting, they are through changing the fading field between the fiber mutual coupling coupling degree, coupling length and change the fiber fiber radius to achieve different size branching volume. Optical splitter is the connection device of multiple inputs and outputs, which can realize the coupling, branching and distribution of optical signals in the optical network system, and is the most important part of the fiber optic link. The strength of the optical signal coming out of each downlink optical interface can be the same or different.
