Blockless/Mini module PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) splitter is a type of optical power management device with mini module package fabricated using silica optical waveguide technology. It is widely used in PON/ODN networks to realize optical signal power splitting with 1xN or 2xN splitting ratio. Wolon provides a series of customized mini module PLC splitters to meet different requirements on port configuration, cable type, fiber length, input connector, and output connector.

Can the PLC splitter be changed casually?

 

The splitter can be changed at will. The optical splitter is a component that makes up the PON network, a passive device that connects the OLT and the ONU, and its function is to distribute downstream data and centralize upstream data. The splitter has one upstream optical interface and several downstream optical interfaces. The optical signal from the upstream optical interface is distributed to all downstream optical interfaces for transmission, and the optical signal from the downstream optical interface is assigned to the only upstream optical interface for transmission.

 

How to connect home optical fiber to the splitter?

Ordinary optical fiber transceivers are point-to-point and cannot be connected to optical splitters. To use PON OLT/ONU to use point-to-multipoint, usually 1 OLT through the optical splitter connected to 16-64 ONU, downlink broadcast transmission, uplink ONU Burst Mode work, time-sharing multiplexing.

 

Optical splitters are passive devices, also known as optical splitters, they do not require external energy, as long as there is input light. The splitter consists of incident and exit slits, mirrors and dispersive elements whose role is to separate the required resonance absorption lines. The key component of the splitter is the dispersion element, and commercial instruments now use gratings. The large-scale use of leather wire optical cables in FTTX engineering mainly adopts two connection methods: one is the cold connection technology (physical connection) of optical cable based on cold splicers, and the other is the hot melt technology of welding machine as a tool.
